Defending champions KCB Rugby Club began their SportPesa National Sevens Circuit title defence with a narrow 19-12 win over Kabras Sugar RFC in the Prinsloo 7s final at Nakuru Athletics Club.
The result gave KCB their first Prinsloo 7s title since 2017, snapping an eight-year drought and delivering the Bankers a KSh 150,000 prize.

Kabras Sugar got off to the better start, racing to a 5-0 lead when Mike Lukusu capitalised on a loose KCB kickoff.
KCB answered immediately as Kenya Sevens international George Ooro dotted down for their opening try, converted to put the champions ahead.
Kabras were further hampered when Jackson Lukeki was sin-binned for an illegal intervention, leaving them a man short. KCB used the opportunity well, with Elvis Olukusi and Vincent Onyala both scoring to stretch the lead to 19-5 at the interval.
Kabras hit back in the second half, Brian Mutua converting a try to bring the score to 19-12 and set up a tight finish. KCB’s defence held its nerve, however, closing out the win and starting their title defence with silverware.
Mwamba Ladies Retain Crown, Zetech Oaks Impress in Division One

Mwamba Ladies retained their Women’s Division One title in dominant fashion, beating newcomers Kiambaa Ladies 19-0 to earn KSh 100,000.
Zetech Oaks put in the tournament’s most emphatic performance in the Men’s Division One final, hammering Kabarak University 46-0 to claim the title and KSh 70,000.
Attention Shifts to Dala 7s in Kisumu
Following the conclusion of Prinsloo 7s, the SportPesa National Sevens Circuit moves to Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Mamboleo, Kisumu, for the Dala 7s on August 1-2, with teams eyeing momentum in the 2026 title race.
