President William Ruto has upheld his vows of revamping the agriculture sector of the country as a key solution to dealing with food insecurity suffered for a long offering every County Ksh 100 million for the agricultural sector.

The president said the allocated Ksh 100 million is for the construction of Industrial and Aggregation Parks with an aim at boosting agriculture and adding to the value of farm products.

Lauding the agriculture sector for commencing the process of fertilizers disbursement in attempting to help farmers deal with situations.

“We will allocate the first Ksh 100 million to every county for the construction of Industrial and Aggregation Park so that we can have aggregation on all our farm products,” President Ruto said.

This had already been initiated by Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguruin the Central Region as she oversaw the start of the first Climate-smart Agro-Industrial City in the region, the construction of Sagana Industrial City gazetted as a Special Economic Zone.

“Our County Executive and Assembly teams came with me to expand our vision with fantastic progress of Tatu Industrial City. What the mind can conceive, with the right team and support guaranteed by President William Samoei Ruto, we will achieve at Sagana, Agro-Industrial City will be put up on 250-acre land,” she said during a visit to Tatu City in January.

The Trade and Investment CS Moses Kuria also placed emphasis on the establishment of the parks across the 47 counties, at Ksh 100 million each, as one that will guarantee direct sale to local and international markets through a network of international logistics companies.

“We are piloting in three identified counties which we want to increase to ten in the immediate phase and roll out in the next Financial Year,” Kuria said.

Citing that the setups were for agro-processing and value-addition cottage industries in the counties to help spur local economic growth.
